Scarlett's fifth month was full of personality and lots of happy times :) She began giggling on a regular basis, and learned to squeal with joy. She also began to enjoy playing with all sorts of toys, reaching for everything in sight. She LOVED (and still does) spending time in her bouncer and once her feet finally reached the floor, she was unstoppable! We mix up the toys hanging from it, and she enjoys moving them around, crinkling them, and most of all she enjoys chewing on them since her teething continues to bother her on a daily basis. While at her friend Hope's first birthday, we discovered Scarlett is ecstatic about shiny balloons, and after bringing a couple home, she was easily distracted by the balloons if she began to get fussy. Scarlett also finally rolled over a few times! Although it was not often, at least we knew she could finally do it :) Tummy time was still tough though (and still is). She much prefers to be propped up or held while standing.
Scarlett was allowed to start having cereal from a bowl, and it did not take her long to understand how to eat from a spoon. Of course it helped that her sitter, Melanie, encouraged her each morning for breakfast, and since Melanie has done it three times before, it seemed like a simple task.
Scarlett celebrated her first St Patty's Day the same day she turned 5 months. We spent the day relaxing as a family at home :)
We introduced Scarlett to more friends, and she socialized quite well! Aside from the occasional shy moment, she soaked up all of the attention.
Luckily for mommy, Scarlett finally started going to sleep around 9pm on a more regular basis the closer she got to being 5 months. She also began sleeping through the night a little more often.
Copper and Scarlett are becoming better friends, and she has learned to pet him herself. We have to be careful though because on occasion she grabs on too hard!
