Scarlett's Second Month

Scarlett's second month was just as exciting as her first month, including lots of visits to family and friends, and enjoying her first Thanksgiving.  We discovered just how much she really loves to cuddle with other people, falling asleep rather easily in their arms.  If only she slept that well for mommy and daddy!  Like most babies, Scarlett also sleeps well in the car, which we discovered after taking her out for longer car rides to visit family and friends.  At two months, she typically slept 4 1/2 hrs at night, which was still better than the 2-3hrs mommy was getting before!  Scarlett's legs became exceptionally strong due to lots of kicking when she cried, and she was able to hold her weight on them when held up.  She also realized it was fun to push off of laps with her legs when she felt crankiest.  Scarlett was able to lift her head for an extended period of time and look around, which she loved, and continues to love to do when held against someone's shoulder or chest.  Her grip became even stronger, and she began curling her toes around things when her feet were touched.  Scarlett began cooing, most often when fed a bottle.  She also cooed on occasion in her newly purchased swing.  She was very hesitant about the swing at first, crying almost immediately after being placed in it, but after a couple days of attempts, she quickly started cooing and falling asleep.  Unfortunately, she wasn't, and isn't always happy about being placed in the swing, and will still cry until mommy or daddy holds her again.  Scarlett's emotions became more apparent, and her cries started to take on different meanings.  She also began smiling more often, although they were mostly due to gas!  During Scarlett's 2-month wellness visit, she weighed 10lbs 15oz and was 22 3/4in long.  Her pediatrician said she looked good and is right on track for weight and length.  Poor girl received two more shots during her appointment, and mommy wanted to cry with her again!

Unfortunately I got very few pics during Willie's birthday dinner, to include any with him, but Scarlett had a good time with family and fell asleep to PopPop's humming :)

Hope was also at the birthday dinner, and maybe someday she and Scarlett will become great friends!

Random pics taken throughout the month.

Scarlett definitely makes it known when she is unhappy, and even shows some irony on occasion :)

Mommy can't resist pictures of her squishy cheeks!!!

While daddy placed airsoft with the boys, Scarlett joined mommy with Mandy and Aunt Tee, where she received more of her favorite cuddles.
