SweetScarlettElizabeth: Scarlett's Fourth Month

I'm a bit behind again with this blog, and it didn't help that poor Scarlett ended up with her first bad tummy virus last weekend into early last week, but I'm trying to catch up! Scarlett turned four months old two weeks ago, and she changed so much during her fourth month. Her personality shown through more than ever, and she has become such a fun and happy baby girl. Scarlett began playing more with toys, and went from being slightly interested to grabbing ahold of all sorts of things. Her favorite toy to swat at and chew on seems to be a bug with different textured wings and a smiley face. She smiles when she plays with it, and tends to go for it over the other toys. Scarlett also favors her first doll, gifted by Aunt Kelsey :) She has discovered her feet, tangling her toes together and rubbing her feet on everything. She has also grabbed them on one or two occasions, but usually she just stares at them wondering what to do with them. Scarlett enjoys her activity bouncer, and her toes ALMOST reach the floor. Until they do, mommy and daddy sit with her and bounce it for her. During the week with Melanie, Scarlett sits at the table and talks to the two girls and boy while they eat breakfast, and then when Noah comes home from Kindergarten, he usually sits with her on her play mat and talks to her for an hour or so. She continues to get so much love and attention from the Lopez family, and I really believe it has been such a help on her development.

On occasion Scarlett has become more shy around other family and friends, but thankfully that is still abnormal. She has had a couple more family outings, to include a restaurant visit with my family and then a trip to her Aunt Jenny's house for her cousin Brian's birthday. She has become quite the avid people watcher too! Scarlett has also taken more of an interest in Copper, and will "pet" him without assistance. She also smiles now when he gives her kisses.

Although she has yet to roll over, Scarlett loves to be held while standing, and during her four-month doctor visit, the doctor was very impressed by how strong she is. She tries to sit up on her own from almost a flat position, and we are certain it wont be long before she succeeds. Tummy time is still a struggle, which is partially why I think she has not rolled over yet, but we are getting a little better at it, and she seems close to rolling over. During her visit, Scarlett weighed 15lbs 1oz, and was 23 1/2 inches long. She is rapidly outgrowing her clothes, we just hope she can make it a little longer in her fleece footed pjs since the weather is so close to turning!

Since about three and a half months, Scarlett began teething. One day she suddenly started chewing on her hand (rather than sucking) while fussing, and drooling A LOT more than she did. She has yet to be very interested in any teethers, and we have tried a ton. Instead she usually just chews on her hand and rubs her own gums with a couple fingers. She also tries to grab her tongue, which is always funny to watch :) With all of the extra drool, Scarlett's new favorite thing is to blow spit bubbles. She thinks it is the funniest thing, giggling and smiling while she does it. She has also started making even more new noises, and has started actual baby babble. It is always entertaining watching her talk to her toys :)
